During the Second Lebanon War Safed suffered many attacks, many of the residents were frightened and did not leave their homes, Shimon took it upon himself to help them and wandered around the neighborhoods , after the war he suffered from anxiety and insomnia, during the long nights the power of painting burst out of him and he found some  rest  for his soul

His paintings are characterized by intense and lively colors and are made of layers so that the eye of the observer can perceive a different sight each time, a recurring motif in his paintings is the Star of David that is hidden and rediscovered
