During the Second Lebanon War, Safed endured numerous attacks. Many residents, gripped by fear, stayed confined to their homes. Shimon took it upon himself to help them, moving among the neighborhoods. After the war, he suffered from anxiety and insomnia. It was during these long nights that the power of painting erupted from him, offering his soul a form of release.
